I was missing concrete mixer over the long weekend and made a deal with husband. One concreate mixer and I will have vegetable shake for dinner for the entire week. And so I agreed...
I had carrots with parsley and uhmmm mashed potato shake...yikes!
Hopefully, tomorrow it will just be carrots...

Happy Thanksgiving!
Today's learning...Humility.
How do you define humility? Do you know someone who exemplifies humility?
In the spirit of Thanksgiving...
I am thankful for our family and friends' good health.
I am thankful to Joe for making me happy and making me laugh. He is super silly...pew pew!
Joe is thankful for being happy with where we are right now. For years, we having been moving towards a milestone, may it be work related or a circumstance planned or not planned. Now, we are settled and enjoying life together.
Joe is thankful that I am generous because I always consult or consider him when making decisions.
Have a nice Thanksgiving y'all!
p.s. Passed my driver's license written exam too! Woot!

How we met
*As written in our wedding website
Marianne was born in Laguna, Philippines
Joseph was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota
They began their collision course at birth and in October of 2007 they collided in a conference room in Golden Valley. By January they were dating and by February they had made it formal. Marianne and Joe were under threat of separation early on due to the nature of their work. Joe became resolute to follow Marianne anywhere in the world.
Marianne’s role in the United States ended in December of 2008. Since Marianne had become a permanent resident of Australia she decided to take a leave of absence from work and give Australia a try. While Marianne was getting ready in the Philippines, Joe departed for Melbourne to await Marianne’s arrival. The two spend over a month in Australia exploring what opportunities it held.
Homesick and slightly less hopeful about the prospects of the beautiful but very foreign Australia; Marianne and Joe left for the Philippines to regroup and rethink Marianne’s move. While there they enjoyed the company of Marianne’s family and friends, as well as the company of each other.
Unfortunately, Joe was forced to return to the United States earlier than planned due to medical concerns.
After seeing his doctors and getting the all clear the couple spent a long and painful time apart. Fortunately, Marianne had made plans to visit the states from June to September and Joe was making plans to follow Marianne again after that.
During Marianne’s visit, friends and family started to receive calls from a very excited Joe. In their reunion and the time spent since Joe had begun to think about the future of the couple. Most importantly he felt deep within himself that his soul mate was in Marianne. So on August first 2009 Joe took Marianne on a surprise trip to Duluth, Minnesota to propose to her on the North Shore. A very innocent and cute Marianne didn’t even realize anything was out of the ordinary until the ring was out.
Marianne accepted Joe’s proposal and a few months later the excited and happy couple decided to be wed in a civil ceremony. The event was joyous and beautiful (thanks mom for the flowers) and the day went off with just one hitch (pun).
Since then Marianne and Joe have been saving and planning to celebrate their union in the church. They have chosen July 24th at the Basilica of St. Mary (their home church in the US). In the future the happy couple will plan an event in the Philippines to celebrate with more family.
The future holds endless possibilities for the soul mates… but most of all… Disney World!

Living the mabuting life!
Welcome to our website!
A little story on how we ended up with this name...
We want to name our blog, the good life! We tried different combinations playing with the or a, with hypen, with spaces but all are taken! Someone should clean-up the list since most of the blogs were updated years ago...
Joe came up with the idea of having a Filipino word in the title. It's either good buhay or mabuti(ng) life. Joe still has to figure out the whole "ng" thing in Filipino. But that's another story. Anyway, good buhay sounds like good bye and we definitely do not want that! So mabuting life it is!
Mabuti is good in Filipino.
Since most of our family and friends are a good distance away, we decided to have a blog so we can share what we are up to. We also want to share this with our kids in the future so we can tell them how cool we are!
Welcome again and this is our story!
